Our celestial tours at Summer House Park start the Wednesday of Canada Day weekend all the way to the end weekend of Labour Day (June 26 – August 30).

Sessions begin after sunset & last 60-75minutes.

We will (as long as it's not too cloudy!) show you the rings of Saturn, the stripes of Jupiter's chaotic atmosphere, and the sights of distant galaxies, nebulae, and star clusters! We have a lot to show, and only so much time to do it, so we hope to see you there this summer!

You DO NOT need to be staying at the park to attend a session! They generously welcome all people to attend sessions. Please respect their quiet hours when attending sessions and returning to cars.

Quiet hours between 10:30pm and 7am.

Parking – free parking during Bayside Astronomy sessions is available outside of the campgrounds in their visitors parking lot.

Where to go – Walk past the front gates, turn down to the beach/docks.

Although visibility is important for safety, white light ruins your night vision for up to 45 minutes. Here are some tips for preserving your ability to see the most stars:

-          Avoid looking at your phone. If available, put it on “night mode”, and on stargazing apps, see if there is a “red light” option.

-          Shield your eyes from oncoming headlights or similar bright lights.

-          Avoid using your flashlight near the telescopes or during the programming; this will disrupt the vision of those around you as well.

-          If you have a head lamp, it may have a “red light” mode – this light will not disrupt your eyes!

The BPBA, through the Six Steams Initiative, is proud to be continuing the Septics Incentives Program in 2026 and 2027, and will be returning to your community this summer to host two annual workshops on best management practices!

The second workshop is being held on August 27th, from 9:00am to 10:00am at the Pike Bay Community Centre on 2 Sutter Rd. 

The workshop will feature a pump-out demonstration completed by the Bruce Peninsula Septic Service (BPSS), followed by a presentation on the Six Steams Initiative, the septic program and best management practices of septic systems. Following the presentation, there will be a Q&A session.

Alien Escape: A Nocturnal Escape Room Experience is offered by EcoAdventures, an ecotourism-based social enterprise initiative of the Bruce Peninsula Biosphere Association.  Since 2018, we have been offering guided tours and overnight multi-day adventures that take you across breathtaking and dramatic landscapes. We are "what to do" on the Saugeen Bruce Peninsula!

You’re invited to the Saugeen Sojourn!

We are thrilled to be launching the Saugeen Sojourn—a cultural and ecological overnight experience at Cape Croker Park.

Developed in partnership with Indigenous guides and cultural educators, this program blends outdoor adventure with Anishinaabe storytelling and land-based learning.

🛶 Adventure: Big Canoe tour around Sydney Bay or Fat Bike ride (weather pending) & EcoAdventures guided nature hike.

Where - At Singing Sands on Dorcas Bay road, the telescopes will be down near the beach at the end of the boardwalks.

The BPBA is hosting "Becoming a Citizen Scientist for Water Quality" on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The workshop will begin indoors at the Ferndale Information Centre (2928 Highway 6, Lion's Head), followed by a short drive to Hardwick Cove Beach for hands-on field practice.

Participants will learn how to monitor water quality and watershed health using the same equipment and protocols the Bruce Peninsula Biosphere Association uses in its community monitoring program. We'll cover water sampling basics, key parameters like temperature, pH, conductivity, and dissolved oxygen, and how to recognize potential water quality issues, including harmful algal blooms.

This workshop is free and open to all experience levels and no prior knowledge is required. It's a great fit for anyone interested in Lake Huron's health or looking to volunteer with our water monitoring program next season. We'll tell you everything you need to know!

A four-day instructional sea kayaking journey along Georgian Bay's Saugeen Peninsula, based out of Cape Croker Park. Kayak Ontario leads paddling instruction, and our Anishinaabe and local partners offer cultural and ecological programming.

This is a small-group experience for paddlers seeking a mix of coastal paddling, learning, and Anishinaabe-led experiences, offered in collaboration with Kayak Ontario.

Neyaashiinigmiing, situated on the Saugeen (Bruce) Peninsula along Georgian Bay, features a remarkable combination of sheltered coastlines, exposed bluffs, rich ecology, and deep cultural significance. This instructional tour is designed to allow ample time for a variety of on-water and land-based experiences, all guided by those with intimate knowledge of the area.

A maximum of 8 participants ensures a calm, supportive learning environment.

Anishinaabe Cultural Experiences
Land-based experiences are led by Anishinaabe and local guides and include a welcoming drum-in and opening ceremony, time on the water in a traditional Big Canoe, a guided hike exploring ecology and geology, an evening dark-sky astronomy session, and a campfire gathering with an Elder. A closing moment or departure gathering may also be offered.

Coastal Sea Kayaking
Explore the Cape Croker shoreline through full and half-day paddles, focusing on navigation, reading conditions, efficient movement, and group travel.

Comfortable Basecamp
Stay three nights on tent platforms with cots and canvas tents provided.

Join Sarah Fencott and the Bruce Peninsula Biosphere Association for a 4‑hour BioBlitz at our Eastnor Swamp Wetland restoration property. We’ll be documenting wetland biodiversity with a special focus on invasive, rare, and at‑risk species.

Phragmites weren't here in 2023, now there are have been sitings. Help us track its spread, monitor management, and look for other invaders while searching for Black Ash, Wood Thrush, and other species that need our attention. Your observations will directly support the Association’s restoration work!

This BioBlitz is in the second part of the iNaturalist Beginner workshop held on August 23rd.  Ideal if you attended that event, but it is not required.
